If you and your employees need to be able to reach heights that you can't reach with your current equipment, and if you want a nice, sturdy platform that you can work from, then you could be looking into a scissor lift hire. Scissor lift rentals are common and can be very helpful for lots of companies and lots of projects. There might be things that you don't know about using these lifts, though, including some of the things listed here.

You Might Need to Have it Transported

Scissor lifts are often large and quite heavy, depending on the specific one that you choose. If you need to be able to transport it yourself, then you may want to keep its size in mind in comparison to the trailer that you have. Otherwise, you might need to have it transported by the company that you rent it from. Luckily, with most rental companies, this is not a problem.

You Might Not Be Able to Operate it Yourself

When renting equipment, you might typically rent it so that you or your employees can use it for whatever job you might be taking on. Therefore, if you're planning on renting a scissor lift, there is a good chance that you are planning on using it yourself or asking your employees to use it. However, there's a chance that this isn't actually going to be an option.

Unlike some equipment that you can rent, there are regulations that require those who operate a scissor lift to be trained and certified to do so. If you are used to using scissor lifts when running your business, then you and your employees might already have these certifications. If you don't, though, the rental company might not allow you to use the scissor lift yourself, or you could face safety fines if you're caught doing it.

There are a couple of solutions to this problem, though. If you know that you are going to be renting a scissor lift in the near future and if you want to be able to operate it yourself, then you can undergo the necessary training. There are short classes that will allow you to earn your certification pretty quickly, and you can continue to use it in the future, such as if you rent a scissor lift again at some point. In many cases, this is worth it. Otherwise, you can ask that the rental company send out a licensed operator to assist.
